Well at least I am consistent….another loser in the nba. That is why its best not to bet until something looks reasonable for an entire season.
Today most likely a mlb play this morning but since public numbers are going to be important the plays wont be released until its very clear the game falls into my parameters.
Also I received a few comments:
“Rick, where is the best site to see betting trends? Is SBR’s info on betting trends accurate? When you see a numbers like “62% for the away team and 38% for the home team”.Do those numbers refer to the percentage of bets, or the percentage of money waged?
Thanks for all your hard work.”
Sportsinsights in my opinion is the best site to obtain public numbers. It is not perfect but as far as I am concerned its by far the best. The delayed quotes used to be free but they are now charging 15 a month for that service. If you use public percentages in your handicapping the 15 a month is worth it.
Sbr is fine. I havnt looked at there numbers for awhile but I believe they get there numbers from covers which is a free consensus service. Members give there opinions and its not based upon actual wagering. I used to use covers numbers in addition to SI but dont anymore. But if your looking for something thats free covers is the best.
I believe the public numbers are based upon number of bets. Si gives you the number of bets and the percentages.
“Rick – does it worry you that the data in the survey is almost 10 years old? Do you know how the strategy has performed from 2002 into the present day?
It worries me enough inefficiencies getting ironed out over time in the sports markets. In the stock markets I just assume it as a given! (although I accept that they still exist of course)”
What me worry:) This study was done when the reporting lag between insider purchases and when it was made public was 60 days. Now its 2 days. The logic is still there (which is one of my tests) and if it worked with a 60 day delay…2 days would make it even more valuable.
“Thoughts on a company called Headwaters (HW)? It’s a stock that has lately seen significant insider buying by its CFO.”
Morningstar gave it D for growth, F for profitablitily, C for finanacial health. Also the guru grade is D (Stocks that receive this grade typically have a few favorable fundamental attributes, but have several major fundamental flaws.)
I would pass on this stock
