We lost our Nhl play on montreal on tues and split our system 4 plays 1-1.

Today not much to look at and its nowhere close to a play today.

Poker Comment:

Unfortunately the Omaha 8 games are getting slower and slower with the only alternatives right now being 8-16 at the orleans and 15-30 sometimes at the venetian. The Bellagio 30-60 is no longer.

The problem as I see it is most of the locals that play omaha 8 are not committed to keeping a strong base to the game. In other words sitting down and starting the game and putting in 6 to 8 hours win or lose. That is what it takes to keep the game going.

Most of the locals now are get ahead and head for the door players even if it means breaking up short handed game. Once this happens a number of times people quit coming and the game breaks down.

I am going to say this again and try to make it clearer…there is absolutely no logic to quitting just because you have a gain for the day. If your a winning player that variable is not relevant as to when to quit!

To make it clearer let me use a analogy. Lets say you were lucky enough to run into someone that would flip coins with you and lay you 120 when you win and you pay 100 when you lose. Lets say you get a nice run early and get ahead 10 units. Would you consider quitting? If so your in the wrong line of work:)

You have a clear 10% edge and the more coin flips the more your expected return. The time to quit would be when he decides he has had enough…period. If you quit him when your 10 units ahead…1. your not making the most of a winning proposition. 2. he most probably will get mad and not give you the bet again.

This analogy is equally applicable to live poker and even more so since it is a real situation as opposed to the above hypothetical you will never get.

But day in and day out you see locals get ahead …look at their watch….and quit breaking up the game. And then they are the first to complain that the game has died out.

Variance is a tricky thing. Dont let you mind play tricks on you. No matter what you play you are going to have to take the swings unless of course you have helped the game die out.
