The markets are quiet again this morning after a nice run up on Tuesday. The rally for me was unexpected as I anticipated quiet time until tomorrow when the fed announces. The market is clearly overbought right now and I am positioning myself for a move to the downside. I have on several short trades right now but my SPY/SDS Trade has not triggered yet. But another sharp move to the upside and we most probably will be there for the 1st half of the trade.
Regarding trading in front of news events there are a few things to keep in mind. One of the likely scenarios ( most likely) is if there is a strong move prior to the event expect an opposite move after the news. Also you want to watch to see what the market does in relation to the event. If the news is bullish for the markets …as an example the fed announces no rate hikes now for over a ¥ear…the logical move is to the upside. If the market responds differently you should take notice. Its usually an indication that we are heading in the opposite direction.
I again expect a quiet day today which means a huge move:) One never knows exactly what to expect so trading price not opinions is the best way to approach the markets. Very similar to the NFL games that look like a cannot lose. You had better pass or bet the other side of the game! Contrarian thinking works well in the markets as it does in the NFL. But only in the long run. Short term not quit as easy as that.
